Groundbreaking for a New Starbucks in North Versailles

Today I had the opportunity to photograph a groundbreaking event for a new Starbucks location being built in North Versailles. The event took place on property owned by Brandywine Communities, who hosted local commissioners, development partners, and community leaders to mark the start of the project.

Groundbreaking ceremonies are always interesting to photograph because they represent the first official step in something that will soon become part of the community. What starts as a patch of dirt and a few ceremonial shovels eventually turns into a place people visit every day.

Bringing the Community Together

Events like this bring together the people behind the project. Local officials, developers, and community leaders who helped make it happen. The ceremony included remarks from local commissioners and project partners before the traditional shovel-in-the-ground moment that officially kicked things off.

From a photography perspective, my goal at events like this is to capture both the key moments and the candid interactions happening around them. Those unscripted moments often tell the story just as much as the speeches and formal photos.

A Great PR Event to Document

Public relations events have a unique energy. There are planned moments, like speeches and photo ops, but also a lot happening behind the scenes. Capturing those interactions helps create a visual story that organizations can share through press releases, announcements, and marketing.

These images help communicate the progress of the project and the collaboration between community leaders and development partners.

Always Great Working with Brandywine

One of the best parts of the day was getting to work again with Brandywine Communities. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with their team on projects for many years, and it’s always a great experience.

Long-term relationships with clients are something I value a lot in my work. Over time you develop a rhythm and trust that makes projects run smoothly and keeps the focus on capturing great images.

The Beginning of Something New

Groundbreakings are just the first chapter of a much bigger story. It will be exciting to watch this project take shape over the coming months and eventually open its doors to the community.

For now, it was great to be there to capture the moment when it all officially began.
